Glass balls can used in pumps during the construciton of wells instead of using gravel backfill. The advantages of this method are described in the attached case studies.
In recent years, more than 150 wells were built using glass balls, and more are continuing to be built this way. Glass balls are durable to desposits of iron and manganese salts. They have a much longer life than classic gravel.
